Why do we carry Serta instead of other major brands?

  We have decided to participate in the Serta National Retailer program for independent dealers,  with over 400 other stores nationwide.  Besides the obvious advantages of mutual buying; there are 3 major reasons for entering into this partnership with Serta:

Reason #1:  Quality products with national name-brand recognition

  Today’s savvy consumers demand products that come from companies with long-standing reputations for quality and they rightfully want to know that these manufacturers  will be around to support them if there is a problem on the back-end. 

  Serta has been in business for over 75 years and is the top quality manufacturer in our industry with numerous quality awards including Consumer’s Digest, Consumer Reports and a myriad of industry awards. 

  At Famous Mattress the best advertising we’ll ever get is a customer that tells other potential customers about their happy encounter with us, and their satisfaction with the quality of the brands/merchandise we provided.  It all starts with under-promising and over-delivering on value, delivering on ALL promises made in advertising and at the point of sale and generally, in building quality long-term relationships with our customers. 

  At Famous Mattress, every mattress set is made in the USA and we only sell new items (not “sanitized” or “reconditioned” like many of our major competitors – which is basically disgusting in our view).  All of our mattresses are made of new materials for cleanliness and allergy-avoidance. 

Reason #2:  We don’t want defective product returns any more than you do

  Serta mattresses are made with heavy-gage (read: thick!) springs which are truly double heat-tempered for maximum “memory”.  They keep their shape well beyond the warranty period. They are flat-out better designed, stronger inside and more durable than the other “S” brands.

  Serta mattresses also have excellent edge support and will not break down from sitting or sleeping near the edge.  In addition, they are “posturized” with the coils placed closely together in key support areas where they’re required to handle the most weight.  No other major competitor constructs their sets in this common-sense manner.

  Serta also holds a number of patents on things like Kool Komfort Memory Foam which has all the properties of regular memory foam except that it won’t make you feel like you’re sleeping on a hot-plate.  Serta is the only manufacturer who places the top layer of their convoluted foams with the points up.  This is a patented application and allows for more air circulation and a neutral temperature for uninterrupted sleep.

Reason #3:  We don’t want to be dictated-to as far as what we offer for sale

  At Famous Mattress our returns for the last year were under 3.75%.  There are individual beds from other makers that exceed 8% returns, and run nearly double our average as a group or brand.  We don’t sell space on our floor to lesser manufacturers to make a quick buck, and we won't tolerate back-end issues caused by inferior merchandise.

  There are major “S” manufacturers that you see all over television that take quality out of their products on an ongoing basis to improve selling margins with no eye towards long-term customer satisfaction.  Instead they seem to have decided to make it up in volume by spending their multi-million dollar ad budgets on developing top-of-mind awareness with consumers who are unwittingly paying for that advertising instead of a quality product.

  We don’t sell junk at Famous Mattress and if we have a bed that falls short of our targeted quality measures, then it is quickly removed so as not to undermine our relationship with our customers.  Our major competitors collect huge fees from their vendors up-front and are then bound to give up that space with almost zero regard for the quality of what the manufacturer is producing.  We maintain control over our floor by not engaging in this type of arrangement.

  In Summary:  We are proud to offer Serta, Perfect Sleeper, Vera Wang and Perfect Day.  We feel very strongly that they represent the best quality available in our industry and we are thankful for their help in making our business a success. 

  Happy customers make for good long-term relationships, and Serta has never let us down when it comes to consistent quality an on-time delivery.  Serta seems to always do the right things for the right reasons which is what we strive for ourselves, at Famous Mattress.  No one at Famous Mattress ever got in trouble for siding with a customer, and this is a mindset we share with our vendor partners at Serta.
